Annual Chocolatada Festival
Supporting local traditions in Peru
IMPACT
Sponsoring Chocolatada Festivals for two remote villages to continue enjoying local traditions
Broaden our relations to carry-on meaningful projects
PROJECT HISTORY
The annual Chocolatada Festival is a longstanding Peruvian Tradition that brings communities together over the Christmas season. Distributing hot chocolate, sweet treats, and small gifts to children within the communities spreads cheer and holiday spirit to children and parents alike!
When HOP became aware of the financial needs of two local communities on their signature route to Machu Picchu, they decided to step in and offer support. Since 2013, HOP has sponsored the local Chocolatada Festivals in both Pashpa and Huaripampa villages in Peru.
Continuing this tradition helps uplift these communities and bring joy to families during one of the most magical times of the year.
How Can I Help?
Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps us continue sponsoring the traditional festival in two remote villages.
WWTrek’s Voluntourism Santa Cruz Trek visits both Huaripampa and Pashpa village to not only help out with local projects, but also take in stunning scenery within the Cordillera Blanca mountain range.
FUTURE GOALS
Chocolatada has become not only a time of festivities and celebrations, but also a chance for HOP to donate much-needed warm clothing and supplies to communities that provide warm welcomes to our signature treks in Peru. We will continue to provide funding and gifts to support Pashpa and Huaripampa’s annual Chocolatada Festival.
