Khari Khola Secondary School
Supporting a school in the Khumbu Valley
IMPACT
Educational tools for the school and community of Khari Khola.
PROJECT HISTORY
The Khari Khola Secondary School has been a project of HOP since they first provided computers and a RACHEL educational system in 2018. In 2022, HOP enhanced the school by building an addition.
HOP completed construction on an addition that houses young Lama as they practice and learn their spiritual trade. HOP also helped maintain and refresh parts of the monastery that needed repair and planted 1,000 Black Walnut trees to enhance the surroundings. The trees are growing beautifully and complement the surrounding nature perfectly.
How Can I Help?
Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps support education in this remote village.
Adding a visit to Khari Khola when heading to Khumbu Valley is always an option as a detour. You can help install a solar-powered computer center, a PA system, or an industrial water filter. The village visit offers a truly unique experience into a remote Sherpa community (and at a lower altitude than the trek to base camp!).
We’re often asked for specific sponsorship ideas and amounts. Sponsors help maintain the solar power we’ve installed, the computer centers the students use, and various basic supplies to uphold a fulfilling education.
- $1200 covers necessary updates to the computer centers
- $2500 covers battery updates, panel replacements, and additional solar installation for power
