How Can I Help?

Monetary donations are crucial to this project, as they help HOP buy the food, chocolatada, gifts, and winter clothes for the village’s festivals. We also appreciate donations of winter clothes that can be distributed to the villagers. To get involved this holiday season, contact us at: hop@wwtrek.com or 801-943-0264

Project History

The villages of Pashpa and Huaripampa serve as gateways to some of Peru’s most magnificent peaks. As World Wide Trekking began to pass through these villages, they noticed that the villages’ residents have received little to no assistance in return for the warm welcome they provide travelers. In 2013, with the help of our Peruvian ambassador, Rodolfo Reyes, HOP began our support of Pashpa village by providing funding to rekindle their annual Chocolatada festival. For the past four years, we have provided gifts, drinks, food, and winter clothing for their celebration. In 2017, we expanded our Chocolatada Festival support to include the nearby village of Huaripampa.

Future Goals

Chocolatada has become not only a time of festivities and celebrations, but also a chance for HOP to give out much needed warm clothing and other supplies to communities that provides invaluable help and support to our many treks in Peru. We will continue to provide funding and gifts to support Pashpa and Huaripampa’s annual Chocolatada Festival.
